Palm Pre Accessories shows up in BestBuy's System -- 'TouchStone kit' priced at $69.99

Well looky here... Several Palm Pre accessories landed in BestBuy's system today. According to lgmack, it included 3 acrylic cases, a leather case, one case labeled 'palm pre case' and the "TouchStone Kit"(Charger with battery back cover). He mentioned that the Touchstone is listed at $69.99 which matches fits quite well with earlier reports. He also noted that though these accessories are listed as "In Stock Date: 5/10", he didn't find anything in the store yet

What does this say about the Pre's release date? Not much, but soon. What I can tell you though is that the chances of a mid-May release is looking very dim right now. Your best bet would be on 6/7.

We'll be following this story very closely, so check back for possible updates.

I've been searching all day for some new palm news. This may not be all that intriguing but its good to know the wheels are still rolling.

I was already annoyed this isn't coming WITH the Pre. Now they're charging $70? This is a scam! My toothbrush has this and it isn't even 30!

For crying out loud Palm, Give us a release date and lower the price, I'm now more and more leaning to a non-purchase. This is sickening. You keep bragging that you have a even better product than an iPhone, yet you keep being trash about it. If you want to do better, give this to us or at a cheaper price. You're becoming more and more like Apple, and soon - worse than them.

I don't want this viewed as a rant, it's more of a "How Palm is starting to get annoying with their tactics".
Please Palm, I want to support you, but this isn't helping. Give us a release date, and a discount for this. And stop making this seem like new technology! It isn't.

^You are ranting, and if you don't like the price don't get one. That makes it easier for me to get one on launch day. And quit blaming Palm about the launch date. Its Sprint to set the launch date. Sheesh!

Agreed. If you don't want, don't buy. The release date was set. 1st half of 09. We are almost there.

the longer the release date, the longer it'll take to get the non cdma version... the world doesnt revolve around Sprint, the USA & CDMA

I am a palm supporter so I'll buy a Pre regardless of what Apple releases, however I have to agree with everyone's sentiment. If you don't have an affinity towards Palm and Palm releases so close to WWDC, you will most likely wait to see the offering from Apple. I think Palm has a better product, but many people who are new to smart phones will of course go with whats tried and tested which is the iphone. I've got Palms back, but I now feel they would be somewhat crazy to forgo a 17 May release through the Sprint supply line. At least get it in the hands of loyal Sprint/Palm customers so they can make the "consumer" case for the phone and establish it as a more viable alternative in the minds of those on the fence. Then do a general market release with Best Buy on June 7th to snatch some Apple spotlight. I think that would be a great one two punch. However, indicators are, this will not happen.

The Pre will only "snatch" Apple's spotlight from geeks that read tech blogs (i.e. boys that are overeducated and underemployed). The average non-geek has no idea what the Pre is or what makes it special,

You guys need to get off these geek sites, and get dates. Sooner is better.

Yikes! Your self-loathing is sad. Some of us geeks are married and employed...

My favorite Palm pre accessory is the Comfort Base from newpcgadgets. It is a cool desktop stand to hold the Pre in both the vertical and horizontal position. It also has a cable organizer on the back to manage excess cords.
