Sprint Releases Release Note for webOS 1.2.0, says it releases today

Sprint has released what looks like the official release note for webOS firmware 1.2.0, the one that was recently leaked early. In addition, according to Sprint, webOS 1.2 is to be released today, but if you check on the Pre -- no firmware update is available, yet. We'll report when the update is available, probably in a few hours if it's not just another error.

See Full Release Note below:

Adds the following updates and enhancements:

  • Enhanced copy feature added to browser and email (shift key + tap and drag to select text).
  • Improved global search to catch synonyms. For example, "Movies" brings up YouTube and Videos.
  • Send/Receive vCards via the contacts application (tap left menu drop down)
  • LinkedIn enhancements
  • Filter search in email
  • Bluetooth for expanded car-kit support
  • Improved auto-linking of contacts
  • Save inline images in email
  • Resume support for podcasts and long songs
  • Download files in browser
  • Backup/Restore of web browser bookmarks
  • Support Amazon MP3 over WAN (not just WiFi)
  • Photo Albums sync via Media Sync

Addresses the following issues:

  • Capability has been added to dial phone numbers from a calendar notes field.
  • User interface now displays "updating PRL" correctly when you tap on Update PRL in Phone Preferences.
  • Device will no longer reboot while attempting to download music when there was not available user memory.
  • Real-time updates on Yahoo Finance now work properly.
  • Sprint Navigation is now able to use free form addresses for navigation, including addresses from personal email accounts.
  • PDF files can now be opened from a browser link.
  • If the device receives a notification alert (for example an SMS), a clock alarm would not play unless the notification alert was dismissed.
  • If a calendar event is snoozed then moved to a future time, the event notification will now appear at the proper time.
  • When editing or creating a calendar event and toggling to another application before saving the event, the event will no longer be duplicated.
  • On Google calendar, all day events that are changed to timed events on a computer are now properly updated.
  • If a cancellation is received for an event and the user selects "Remove from Calendar", the event is now removed from the device and desktop.
  • If large attachments are sent in an e-mail, the e-mail is no longer sent twice.
  • When setting email sync time to manual the device will no longer automatically sync the email accounts.
  • Certain properties of tasks that can be set via the computer (but not displayed on the device) will no longer be deleted on the server.
  • When two contacts were linked (one with a last name and one without) you will now be able to find them in SMS and email.
  • Syncing issue with personal accounts has been resolved.

I am using webOS 1.1, and you cannot forward a text message by double tapping either the entire message or a part of a message. I just tried this right now.

You can enable the feature in with the tweaks section of WebOS Quick Install.

Any updates to Mojo framework?

If there is an alert the clock alarm won't play unless alert is dismissed. So I can no longer use my phone as an alarm clock? That's stupid. They need to work on an on screen keyboard and text fwding rather than dumb things like that.

I don't want to store my data on the web. Is there any software that just like the Palm Desktop Manager to syn the Pre data to my desktop?

@lost no lost it is saying that, that problem is fixed. Not that they are adding it no one wants to use quickinstall for tweaks, we prefer Palm to just add these features.

They pulled the 1.2 release notes from their site. I was looking at it, hit F5 in my browser, and it diisappeared. Oh well, at least all the (former) update text was preserved here on PreThinking :)

I wonder if the update has been delayed because of the lanuch of iTunes 9? We need our Palms to sync up to it and Palm is working on a fix/hack.

They need to allow a way to save email on the pre. "create new folder" on main page of the email program would be nice "send mail to save folder". I learned the hard way... left on a business trip, my confirmations, airline ticket bar code scan image email, meeting locations and times were all on my trusty pre. My assistant checked mail on my office computer which clears the server, I turn on the pre after my flight check email
and it wipes all my existing email leaving me with a few spam. I found one way to keep them on the phone, send them to the trash folder and they stay till I delete them from there. Space limited on server and I don't want to have to manage web account deleting emails already on my computer and avoiding the ones I may need available on my Pre. Crazy! What am I missing?

(Lost said -"If there is an alert the clock alarm won't play unless alert is dismissed. So I can no longer use my phone as an alarm clock? That's stupid.")

I think 1.2 will correct this problem which exist currently. with the update your alarm will work even when you receive an alert.

@TLB Does your email server support IMAP? Use that instead, the mail stays on the server until you delete it or move it off.

Copy and paste is cool but no forward message ?? No good updates. They should of had this all down packed before the pre was released. To have it update once every 2 months and not even provied good upgrades is terrible
